ANDREW JACKSON EVANS

Andrew Jackson Evans was born in South Carolina and married Nancy Rush in South Carolina, where at least the first of their several children were born, including John Andrew Evans.

Notes on Nancy Rush---Grandfather was (supposedly) Moses Mardis of South Carolina (Union County? There is a slim possibility that it was North Carolina). Father (?) took a dose of medicine and then drank water, which killed him, and the shock killed his wife, who had a babe only a few hours old. The baby died also, and all three were buried in the same grave. They left a small girl (Nancy) who went to live with a wealthy uncle. She later becam the first wife of 'Jack' Evans....against the wishes of the uncle and guardian, and he therefore disinherited her. They moved to Alabama, where Nancy died prior to 1855. There were five or six children born to Jack and Nancy:
